Tech Stack
Summary
Modernized the tech stack for the airline booking platform across web and mobile.
What I Built
Project Overview
As part of a cross-functional engineering team, I contributed to the modernization of a large-scale airline booking platform serving millions of travelers across web and mobile channels. The initiative focused on migrating legacy systems toward a cloud-native architecture while improving developer productivity, deployment reliability, and customer experience.
The platform combined modern micro-frontend architecture, cloud-native backend services, content management integrations, and automated deployment pipelines to accelerate feature delivery across multiple digital channels.
My responsibilities spanned frontend engineering, backend service development, DevOps automation, cloud infrastructure, and technical assessments aimed at improving scalability and maintainability.
Key Features
Modern Booking Experience
Developed customer-facing booking flows and travel management experiences across web and mobile platforms.
Micro-Frontend Architecture
Built and maintained independently deployable React and Angular applications, enabling teams to deliver features autonomously while maintaining a consistent user experience.
Cloud-Native Backend Services
Developed and deployed Node.js services responsible for aggregating backend data and supporting frontend applications.
Content-Driven Experiences
Integrated Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) components into reusable frontend libraries to accelerate content delivery and marketing initiatives.
Observability & Monitoring
Implemented monitoring, logging, and operational visibility using DataDog to improve platform reliability and troubleshooting.
My Contributions
- Developed React and Angular micro-frontends for booking, search, and customer experience workflows.
- Wrapped Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) components into reusable frontend libraries.
- Built and deployed Node.js backend services supporting frontend applications and API orchestration.
- Integrated GraphQL and REST APIs across multiple backend systems.
- Containerized services using Docker and deployed workloads to Kubernetes environments.
- Automated CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
- Conducted architecture, code quality, and deployment pipeline assessments to identify modernization opportunities.
- Collaborated with platform, backend, and product teams to improve system scalability and delivery velocity.
- Implemented monitoring and operational dashboards using DataDog.
Technical Highlights
Micro-Frontend Platform
Contributed to a modular frontend architecture that allowed multiple teams to develop and deploy features independently while sharing common design and infrastructure standards.
Cloud-Native Deployment
Built containerized services deployed on Kubernetes infrastructure, enabling scalable and reliable application delivery.
Infrastructure as Code
Supported infrastructure automation and environment provisioning using Terraform, reducing manual deployment effort and improving consistency.
Developer Experience Improvements
Improved CI/CD processes, deployment automation, and engineering workflows to accelerate release cycles and reduce operational overhead.
API Aggregation Layer
Developed backend-for-frontend (BFF) services that simplified frontend integration with multiple airline systems and third-party services.
Challenges & Solutions
Challenge
Legacy booking systems often evolve over many years, resulting in tightly coupled architectures, inconsistent user experiences, and slower delivery cycles.
Solution
Adopted a micro-frontend architecture combined with cloud-native deployment practices, reusable component libraries, and automated delivery pipelines to improve scalability and team autonomy.
Outcome
Successfully modernized key parts of the airline booking platform, enabling faster feature delivery, improved maintainability, and a more consistent digital experience across customer-facing channels.
